Linda Mueller, age 99 of Yankton, S.D., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society-Scotland in Scotland, S.D. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory in Yankton, S.D., with the Rev. Karl Watkins officiating. Burial was in the Menno Cemetery, Menno, S.D.

Linda (Kirschenman) Mueller was born June 9, 1920, in Menno to Theobald (T.H.) and Alma (Oswald) Kirschenman. Linda married Ernest R. Mueller on Sept. 18, 1938, in the Reformed Church of Menno and to this marriage five children were born. Together they farmed in the Menno and Lesterville, S.D. area.

Linda worked hard on the farm milking cows and with all aspects of farming. She was a busy and loving mom. They retired from the family farm after 46 years (1984) and built a home in Yankton. She spent many hours landscaping her yard and decorating for the seasons. She had great joy sharing photos of her flowers and the awards she earned from the Yankton Town and Country Garden Club for beautification of her property, her neighborhood and the city of Yankton. She was a great cook, enjoyed playing cards, writing letters, having coffee with friends, and was very active and independent up into her late 90s.

Linda is survived by her children: Kathy Latta of Tucson, Ariz., Lester of Yankton, Larry (Collette Kline) of Scotland and Gene of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren: Stacy, Derek and Kyle; one great-grandson, Jax; and one sister, Ruth Young of Casper, Wyo.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Gerald; two sisters, Anita Maas and Hulda Mensch and four brothers: Melvin, Ruben, Rudy, and Leo.
